A HoCo HWY Rep. was out this morning to follow up on my concern. Turns out the " HoCo is low in manpower and only comes out every 10 to 12 years to care for the trees. Therefore it is my responsibility to clean up after the fallen debris." Every year during this time, I have to clean the leaves away from the street drain to prevent it from clogging and keep the sideways clear of large tree branches. I don't work for the Howard County nor do I have the time to clean up side walks and streets. Kids are out riding their bikes on the sidewalk and skate boarding down the streets and the HoCo Rep is telling me " it is my responsible for their safety." Homeowners are not allow to trimmed the trees or remove the dead branches. Nevertheless, "if an injury did occur, it is the homeowner's responsibility and not HoCo." What?!! Unfortunately, being a HoCo tax payer yields very little results when it involves the tree care - safety issues.

Please take a closer look at the 2 trees in question. Only the limbs that were blocking the stop sign and hanging in the street were trimmed. Unfortunately, the entire tree did not get trimmed. There’s overgrown tree limbs covering a good portion of our side yard making it difficult to grow grass in the area. Dead limbs and debris continue to fall on the sidewalk, street and yard. I tried to point this out the the HoCo Rep this morning, but he didn’t seem to care about my concerns. Anyone could take a look at size and length of the tree limbs and know the entire tree was not trimmed in 12/17.

Elevate, Deadwood

I hope and pray the trees will be elevated and the deadwood is gone. In the past two weeks, I have picked up and bagged 9 large lawn bags of dead tree limbs and twigs. With aging and health concerns, I'm not sure how long I will be able to keep this pace up. My neighbors have the same issue. Please help. Thank you.
