Mô tả

A commercial lawn care service named Jimmy's Landscaping and Masonry, Inc. performs weekly lawn mowing services to several clients (4 to 5) on my block throughout the summer. Their homes are clustered together and are nearby my own.
On Thursday, August 03, 2020, Jimmy's Landscaping arrived at our street at approximately 5:00 p.m. to begin performing its lawn mowing service to these customers.

Normally, 2 employees of this lawn care service are assigned to this large task, which generally takes them several hours to complete. However, on this occasion, only one worker arrived, thereby considerably lengthening the process.

The unfortunate outcome of this service for me is that, on a weekly basis, my nearby home is subjected to the intrusive, high-decibel noise and fumes generated by the gasoline powered back-pack blower and commercial lawn mower equipment for a period lasting several hours. Additionally, a great cloud of dust is also generated by this operation that permeates the air throughout our neighborhood.

To remedy this great nuisance, I am forced to close my home's doors and windows during a late summer afternoon until their work is completed and the noise and dust subside.

While I am sure there is nothing illegal in all of this, it is deeply frustrating to me that this industry seems to be able to operate on its own, without any oversight, or ecological regulations to which it need adhere, or concern itself with.

Their activities have an adverse, negative impact on the quality-of-life of residents here on Staten Island that is seemingly un-checked and un-regulated. In effect, they are operating without any oversight, which, I believe, needs to be remedied. A great place to begin would be by banning the outrageously loud backpack blower, which is so offensive, in terms of noise and air pollution, as other communities have done.

Furthermore, there ought to be a time limit on how long a service is permitted to operate at any one location. Utilizing proper staffing levels would help to assure quicker operations and help to lessen the amount of noise and the dust they generate at any one location. These suggestions would help make these lawn care service providers a bit more eco-friendly and less intrusive and disruptive to our lives. Thank you.
