I have been reporting this graffiti mess for over 1 1/2 years and the City of Oakland has been non-responsive. Public Storage is owned by the Connecticut Storage Fund in Glendale, CA. I have notified them by certified mail and they don't give a hoot about Oakland or our neighborhood. Code Compliance is allowing this billionaire corporation to take a dump on Oakland. I have notified the City Attorney as well and the response is NOTHING. We need to work together to get this mess cleaned up.
Nice effort, Public Storage on 14th ave and International is the same with a tag so big it had to be put on with paint rollers. Been there since 2012 according to the date on it. Been reported many times. I thought the city had a new policy about graffiti, when does a property (or company in this case) become eligible to be cited?
Considering the amount of damage Public Storage has done to quality of life and property values in Oakland, any fines seem somewhat out of scale. Perhaps a class action lawsuit for millions of dollars might wake them up?
City of Oakland Public Works Agency referred this issue to CODE ENFORCEMENT, service request # 494806. Please contact that agency to follow-up. For more information, please visit the "Helpful Links to Other Resource Partners" at the link below.

Still there. What about the new graffiti abatement program? Shouldn't this be handled? Charge owner for cleanup? The citizens who live, work and drive by this shouldn't have to see this.
I started his complaint in November 2012 and have gotten copies of Code Compliance records for this graffiti problem at Public Storage. The records show that the code compliance inspector, Mr. Pham, has done little to get this problem abated in the last 1 1/2 years. Barbara Parker, our City Attorney, could easily take Public Storage to court and get an injunction ordering them to clean it up or face stiff court fines. Barbara Parker was notified many, many times regarding this issue and has elected to DO NOTHING for us resident who have to look at this mess on a daily basis. I agree that Mayor Quan and her cronies HAV E TO GO. We must have a much more responsive city government to get Public Storage to tow the mark. We all can take Public Storage to small claims court and do Barbara Parker job for her. I have one other person, Peter, who is interested in joining in on this proposed lawsuit. If anyone else is interested in spending $20 to file with us, contact me at

I documented the same graffiti in November 2012. My complaint has been unenforced for more than 530 days. Something has gone terribly wrong with Code Enforcement.
This was all cleaned up two weeks ago, but it only stayed free of graffiti for 3 days. If Code Enforcement has the same drive as the taggers, we would be all set.
To JR003;
It is still there for sure. I filed a claim for damages with Public Storage 1 1/2 years ago for $8,000.00, but they did not respond or pay up. That claim has expired, so it's time for round two with these corporate scofflaws. It is not surprising that the City of Oakland is "in bed" with these corporate creeps. Perhaps Public Storage has been furnishing our elected officials with "campaign contributions" to demotivate our illustrious leaders to do little or nothing about the problem in our neigihborhood.
