Description
The new energy-efficient LED lamps installed on Pineneedle now direct light that is too bright into the yard and into the rooms of the home at 6616 Pineneedle. With the previous lights, Public Works installed side shields to protect the home from light pollution. We request that side shields be installed again to restore the home to its previous nighttime light level.
1) The light on pole #23138 with yellow tag #110133984 is located at 6552 Pineneedle. This light needs a shield on the side closest to 6616. It currently has a back shield which has no effect on the home at 6616.
2) The light on pole #27192 with yellow tag #110133954 at 6622 Pineneedle needs a side shield on the side facing 6616 as well.
Attached are photos of the poles and a fragment of a street map showing the addresses, the approximate pole locations and the desired angle of the shields.
One resident, Margie, has been in frequent contact with Paul Chan and John Tenette and has been promised remedial action via telephone many times since the lights were changed in April 2013. Nothing has been done. Can we change that, please?

I favor the existing sodium vapor lights, a gas-light effect, over harsh white. The new lights are not the answer for hilly locations.

The problem with the new LED lights is that they are mounted near the surface of the lamp, so they have a very wide throw, and a very bright glare.
The other problem is that as the removed the old lights, they paid no attention to shields already in place. They also claimed they would not be putting shields on the new lights. So now you will get ultra bright lights glaring into your house.
They have not changed the light outside my house. I hope this remains the fact for a long time.
