Description
The barriers that were set up to prevent dangerous turns have been crashed into and not replaced. most of them are gone. Last week I witnessed two pickup trucks swerve from behind the bus at the bus stop at Harrison Ave and Westside to make a turn onto Harrison Ave. during am rush.

I have even asked our councilwoman of JC has to have to wait until ALL15 of them have been killed and thrown away before we get new ones...
Back when there were only 2 or 3 that had been knocked down we posted on seeclickfix about it....
And then when another couple of them got knocked off we did the same thing.....2 or 3 could have been replaced.... Sadly now we have wait til the big order they placed for more (probably when they order a larger citywide quantity of them the per unit rate is slashed...(which does sound smart) However the problem is that there's a back order and its going to take time till the manufacturer gets them to us....a
cetera at cetera.....
I have personally witnessed a few drivers impatiently passing the stopped bus again lately; it's just a matter of time before someone gets hit in that crosswalk. Why isnt JCPD olicing that spot at least at night when all the commuters are getting off the busses there?
These southbound drivers pull into opposing traffic (the Northbound lane of West side Avenue) because they're in such a **** hurry ...it's only a matter of time before omeone will be hit in that croaswalk.
I am aware that my tone sounds militant and angry but I'd rather be angry now then afterwards ...because of there is an accident or a fatality because nobody listened to me I will sound a lot worse.
I am really hoping this can be repaired much sooner than anticipated because it is becoming obviously a huge risk now that they're almost ALL missing!
And to make matters worse say are probably gonna tell us now they have to wait till springtime because the snow plowers can't plow West side Avenue correctly ..... That was the excuse I got last year about why we had to wait the Spring time to get them in.....

I am keeping this issue open because community members were told that the materials were backordered. Until the bollards have been reinstalled I believe the issue remains unresolved.
Also there is a limit to controlling aggressive drivers. They are ultimately responsible for their actions, but to curb illegal and reckless behavior it might help if the local police district temporarily increase neighborhood patrols near this site during the am and pm rush.

Something to consider for the Buildings & Streets Dept
Here is a website for Rugged plastic posts that spring back upright after impact. Might save some replacement time and money when they are knocked down.

Were the delineators replaced?
If yes, what about the other safety issues?
I want to make sure whatever did not get addressed, gets the attention it needs.

9/19/19 Good lord!
Yeah, the delineators are on, but the ones we will replace them will be much stronger. Maybe we can get PSE&G to replace them.
1) I need to check if this will be repaved shortly.
2) I will also place this on our list for safety review.
2019!!! Geez

I just want to let you know that this issue has not been forgotten. I know that massive street scaping will be happening in Fall of 2025 or later. It can get knocked off schedule.
I know that in the meantime we need to do what we can. I just didn't want you to think this important issue fell off our radar.

Thank you. It has been 5 years now we are dealing with this. The original ticket is 2019.
Finally after oseg did repairs this spring new bollards (crap installation and quality) were installed....lasted a few weeks and now many are already missing.
Please fix this soon!!! Lives are at stake!!!!!!

The bollards are designed to keep people from passing the buses while the bus drops people off the problem is if the ballads are placed too closely together they're only the length of the bus they need to extend almost halfway to Bentley in order to keep people safe....
So ... Problem #1 is the spacing between them and how long the line of them is
Problem #2 is they were knocked down in winter 2019 from snowplow and then it took 20 months or more to get them reinstalled...and when they were reinstalled they were placed waaaaaay too close to each other....
Problem #3 is they were quickly run over and not replaced again til February 2024 when PSEG did work....then PSEG repaved and new bollards were reinstalled ( yet again too close to each other and not securely as they are yet again strewn all over after being run over.
We had a meeting 4 or 5 yrs ago and there was NO way they'd put in a light there so we begged NJ transit to move the bus stop back to Bentley where there IS A LIGHT but it actually made sense to deny that request as people have a better chance to cross from the playground in the park at Harrison so if there was ALSO A BUS ATOP AND THE BOLLARDS DINE RIGHT ..mom's and babies have a better chance to cross there.....
Then PSEG did work feb 2024
