Good Morning,

I received your request to remove parking on the north side of North Street west of the North Street & Drew Street intersection. As it turns out, DPW Staff would not support this request at this time. I looked at crash data and there are not any accidents in the database which would suggest a dangerous situation at this time. In the past five years there have been no accidents at the North Street & Drew Street intersection. Our DPW Traffic Crew will come and check to make sure there is proper sight distance at the intersection. The Traffic Crew may put up signs to remove parking 50 feet away from the curb line at the North Street & Drew Street intersection; there are existing traffic regulations which cover this situation. However, there are no traffic regulations which would allow for the removal of parking (beyond the 50 feet) on the north side of North Street west of the North Street & Drew Street intersection.

Ultimately the DPW Commission makes the final decision on any traffic regulation changes. You can discuss this issue with the DPW Commission at their next meeting on Wednesday, January 15th, 2019 at 6:30 pm. This meeting will be in our Front Conference Room, our office is at 645 Pine Street.
