Upon opening Village Coffee House the owner,promptly,dropped many of the promises made to residents ,concerning the conduct of his business.
1.Instead of encouraging local,EZ access by foot and installing "bicycle racks", there's constant noise pollution from motorcycles, whatever the hour. Riders tend to rev-up for minutes at a time before blasting off.
2. Instead of music each Saturday evening, up to 10:00 PM, "Open Mic"nights have climbed to 3 times a week. Saturday nights have often gone full throttle into early hours on Sunday mornings.
3. Instead of confining the booming noise to the interior the doors are sometimes opened; pumping the decibels into the street.
4. Instead of customer activity confined inside the restaurant, they party by the dozens outside on the pavement.
5. Instead of recognizing he didn't have a permit for sidewalk tables, the owner,routinely, placed tables and chairs on the pedestrian path.
I admit,while this does not impact MY quality of life, it made me wonder how serious the license and inspection department could really be about their own restrictions.
I took the problem to The Overbrook Club. My conversation with the club President revealed a personal relationship with "Stevie", the owner. Consquently, no serious support was forthcoming.
I am left with a question. What happen to all the claims about preserving that special mellowness one expects in historical Overbrook?
I do not have an issue with a restaurant. I have an issue with a restaurant that serves frequent, late night, calamity opposite my door ... all because the owner couldn't care less about what he agreed to on paper.

As for the noise, you can ask your Police district to do a roll call complaint at this location.
Roll Call Complaints provide a means for informing patrol officers of chronic neighborhood problems or conditions that are not of an emergency nature. This initiative is designed to be an effective, proactive response to neighborhood concerns.
For instance, Roll Call Complaints are frequently used to report groups of disorderly teens that routinely congregate on local street corners. Likewise, this mechanism has been successfully used to inform the police department of special community events so that officers can provide additional security. Basically, any non-emergency problem or condition that the police patrol force should be made aware of can be reported using the Roll Call Complaint protocol.
Once the police receive the report, it is posted on a complaint board that is routinely read to officers during six daily roll calls. These announcements continue for a minimum of fifteen calendar days. The information reported in the complaint is recorded by the individual officers in their patrol notebooks and are responded to by patrol officers between calls for service.
Following the initial fifteen day announcement and response period, the complainant may be contacted and a follow-up review initiated. If, following this review, the complaint has been definitively resolved, the case is considered closed. If, however, the problem or condition still requires police attention, the complaint will be reinstituted for an additional fifteen days and may be the subject of additional, specifically tailored problem-solving measures aimed at satisfying the need for final resolution of the problem.
Please include as much information as you can. Incomplete or inaccurate information will delay processing of this report and may compromise their ability to quickly and effectively respond.
Please note that you may remain anonymous, however, if you choose to do so the police will be hampered in their ability to elicit additional information from you that might aid them in attaining a long-term solution to this problem. Consequently, your anonymity may compromise the efficacy of their efforts to resolve the problem in a satisfactory manner.
