Greetings on behalf of Alachua County Public Works,
Thank you for sharing your concerns with our department. Please know that NW 43rd is currently an ongoing project and is expected to be completed in July of this year. At this stage of the project, the old asphalt has been milled and began to be replaced with new asphalt, and the contractor has placed the first layer. We are expecting the second layer to be placed in this month, which will bring the pavement level with the existing manhole covers. In the meanwhile, the contractor has been directed to install and maintain wedges to ease the transition of manhole and water valve covers per Florida Department of Transportation standards. We do understand that the ride is not as smooth as it will be once the project is finished, we appreciate your patience while traveling through an active construction zone. This is getting ridiculous! Fix the roads!!!

NW 43rd Street is currently an ongoing and very extensive project. The work is expected to be completed this upcoming July. As mentioned in the previous comment made by our department on 2/18/19, once the second layer of asphalt is laid, the surface will be even with the manholes. We do apologize for any inconvenience experienced while in route of NW 43rd Street, but please keep in mind that you are traveling in an active construction zone. Thank you.
