Transportation Department staff conducted 12-hour daylight observations in response to your request to add Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFB) to the existing pedestrian crosswalk.
We observed very low pedestrian volumes crossing throughout the day, a total of 27 crossings. All pedestrians crossed safely in existing gaps of traffic. No yielding or compliance issues were observed on this 2-lane roadway. In order to install an RRFB a significant higher number of crossings and vehicle volume would be required. Typically, a 2-lane roadway without a crossing guard do not meet the minimum thresholds required.
