Descrição
The lack of completion of the roadway resurfacing along NW 43 Street has left huge bumps over manholes. This causes major traffic hazards when drivers try to avoid the MANY MANY bumps in an effort to not break their axles or shift their tires out of alignment. The old road surface is now the median and it i raised as well, likely causing confusion as to where the roadway is marked and what its purpose is. Why is this badly done project not completed?

Thank you for sharing your concerns with our department. As you mentioned, NW 43rd is currently an ongoing project and is expected to be completed in July of this year. At this stage of the project, the old asphalt has been milled and began to be replaced with new asphalt, and the contractor has placed the first layer. We are expecting the second layer to be placed in this month, which will bring the pavement level with the existing manhole covers. In the meanwhile, the contractor has been directed to install and maintain wedges to ease the transition of manhole and water valve covers per Florida Department of Transportation standards. We do understand that the ride is not as smooth as it will be once the project is finished, we appreciate your patience while traveling through an active construction zone. If you have any further questions regarding this project, please feel free to contact our office. We may be reached at 352-374-5245 Monday through Thursday from 7am until 5:30pm. Thank you.
