  Location looks good. Whoever services this request needs to have someone clean the street near the driveway to 465 Bellevue Ave of broken glass/trash thrown there by the male from the teepee. The SUV on the right is one of their vehicles; the empty spot just in front of it was where their other SUV was parked.

  During the last big rain ~ 2 wks ago, they picked up old Christmas trees from nearby buildings and placed them around the base of the teepee. See how dried some of those trees are. OFD returned to the teepee today just before this happened. I’m guessing/purely speculation that OFD might have asked them to remove the dried out and drying out trees.

  So bad!!! Hope they dispose of the trees soon and clear out the teepee! I saw the teepee guy when I was down there and he was scary. Came up behind me and when I was walking away he started screaming.

  It was the residents of the teepee, we saw it this morning. I reported it to my local officer and called non emergency repeatedly and can’t get through. There is also 3 abandoned camps with trash, feces and rats piling up as pictured above.

  The trash and broken glass bottles thrown in the street by the male from the teepee were cleaned up this morning by Downtown Streets, a nonprofit that hires unhoused individuals.

  The person who dumped those trees in the lake lives in the teepee in the park opposite 465 Bellevue. He also has two dark green SUVs which have been parked on Bellevue for the past month or so. One of them has an old EMS sign on it. See the attached photo.

  To City of Oakland: Seriously? It's the City of Oakland who decided (legally?) to stop enforcing the existing anti-camping regulations in our parks. And now you are passing the buck to the LAKE MERRITT INSTITUTE? A non-profit volunteer organization with absolutely no regulatory or enforcement powers whatsoever. Do you realize that such a response to this issue is insulting to the taxpayers who pay your salaries and who pay for our city parks. Please start taking these issues seriously and perform your duties responsibly.

  I hope someone warns the volunteers from the Lake Merritt Institute that the male who threw the trees in the water is still in the area and is known to act erratically. See one of the comments above in which his behavior is described.

  Well said Ex Libris. This is how our taxpayer funded employees want to run the city put as much as possible back on the taxpayer as possible from reporting on SCF, Adopting storm drains, Volunteering to pick up litter ect. From our elected officials down they are one giant reactive and dysfunctional mess. How can so many work so hard at doing as little as possible is beyond me.

  Debbie T once again that's the taxpayer job to call OPD 777-3333 and hope you do not get a busy signal. The more people that report him to the police the better. The approach that worked in our neighborhood was requesting a welfare check because we were concerned about there well being and believed the person needed help. These crazy street zomb!es do not ever want to deal with the police.
