Description
On December 7th, 2018 the timing of the traffic lights in Wellington circle were changed. This caused severe traffic delays. They need to be returned to their original timing ASAP. Two specific examples include (1) when traveling east on Rt 16, the two lights that are crossed for Rt 28 south, then Rt 28 north, are no longer synced. The distance between them is not long enough to accommodate the traffic, so drivers are trapped in the intersection and block Rt. 28 south. (2) when traveling north on Rt. 28, traffic from 16 west trying to get onto 28 south blocks traffic from 28 north taking a left to get onto 16 west. The spacing of the new left lanes on 28 north are very tight and are blocked by cars waiting at the light to get onto 28 south. These new changes need to be addressed immediately, considering the impetus for these changes was to accommodate future increases in traffic due to the casino which is not yet even open! Any additional traffic will make this intersection virtually unusable for Medford residents.
