Unless the the damage was caused by an official street tree. The fronting property owner is responsible for the maintenance and repair of there sidewalk. See Sec 5610 of the Calif State Streets and Highway Code and Sec 12.04 of the Oakland Municipal Code. Please file a complaint with code enforcement 238-3381. The more of your neighbors that complain the better.

This was caused by a city tree. As was my very damage sidewalk at 4357 Montgomery St.. It doesn’t seem to matter. the city inspector said “yes “it is their responsibility and the city streets guy said “yes “ it was their tree. but I’ve been on the list for years. My house is especially dangerous situation I’ve put up cones but that’s all I seem to be able to do
