Thank you for reporting this issue to us via SeeClickFix St. Pete. We have forwarded the details you have provided to Pavement and Traffic Operations so that they may investigate and take any necessary action. Sincerely, Mayor's Action Center
This was put in place per Mayors Action request and acting director of Stormwater Pavement & Traffic Operations approval. It is to eliminate vehicular traffic
Maybe i can't see in the photo, but it doesn't look like it was closed with proper signage and markings... Just dropping a concrete barrier with a small deflector on a wood post can't possibly be per City's tech specs and standards...
The neighbors were informed that this was happening. There is a no outlet sign at the top of the alley and on 39th Ave N. The city installed to help stop unwanted traffic (and some illegal activities) from occurring in this area. The city also installed this as a temporary measure to see if it helped the situation before possibly turning it into something permanent.
Myself, that is all fine and dandy, but even temporary measures need to comply with certain visibility standards at the end. I know the City knows how to do that, since there are roads in the vicinity that have it done properly.
The only people that should be in this area are the people that live there. All were informed of what was happening. FDOT okayed this closure. "While the FDOT has signed off on this temporary closure, I am not sure what they will end up doing on a long-term basis as it is unusual for them to leave an area like this unfenced"
