Bread & Roses: The Peoples Bakery 315 759-8880 is taking online orders and running a business out of their home. How can the City and HEALTH DEPARTMENT allow this to happen. What about city code, residential zoning, OSHA, Health regulations etc. IS THIS A FRONT FOR SOMETHING ELSE. Are the proper taxes being paid. How can this go on.

I don't know any details about this, but do you know that they haven't had their home inspected and approved? You CAN run a food prep business out of a home with an approved setup. So the argument that something is fishy just because it's run out of a residence is not enough to warrant a call of it being a "front". Unless you have details that haven't been shared in this post.

I can clear this up! Bread and Roses announced that they would eventually be opening their own space but taking orders online in the meantime. We prepare these orders in a certified kitchen, which we rent. We are happy to update our Facebook page if it gives the impression we are baking out of our house. Thanks for bringing this issue to our attention.

To the original poster: It's good that you're concerned about the safety of Genevans, however in future issues like this, it might be more tactful to approach the business first and see what the details are before going to the authorities, this way we can be better neighbors to each other.

Good for Bread &Roses for being hard working entrepreneurs! It shows initiative. The cost of living is so expensive we need to encourage each other to do whatever we can. It’s a win-win for Geneva when working residents want to live here and it helps the local economy. I would love to see the city move toward encouraging more small businesses just like this one.
