I apologize for my tone in the report above, I must have been really frustrated. It IS an important issue, though. It's been some weeks since the work was done and there's just no sign of any intention to replace the gravel with a sidewalk, and that really isn't fair. We need a sidewalk. On the bright side, if we wait until after this storm to do the work, the creek will probably rise enough to haul the gravel away and save the city that expense. May need to repair the whole bridge afterward but so it goes.
