We work closely with various City departments and local social service providers to address issues faced by our homeless population, and we also work with neighborhood associations to address the concerns they have, as well. Our Police Department has a Street Outreach Team that actively canvasses areas where the activities of the homeless are noticed, and they will continue doing so to ensure the safety of all citizens. Please immediately report any criminal activity or safety concerns to the SPPD directly by calling 727-893-7780 if not an emergency, or 911 if an emergency. Thank you.

Thank you for reporting this. I have asked our homeless street outreach team to go by this location to offer their assistance to anyone who may actually be homeless. If willing to accept help, our outreach team will get them connected to shelter, housing, meals, medical care, substance abuse treatment and other services they may be in need of. I have also referred this to our Police Department and asked them to check into the allegations and monitor this location at all hours of the day, including evening and early morning hours. Should they encounter anyone, they will take the appropriate action to enforce the law and local ordinances. Thank you again for reporting this to us.

marked as a duplicate of 389, triplicate of 372, quadruplicate of 718... Yet now 5 months later, the very same issue exists. Stop spending tax dollars by sending social services to 'talk', placate OR assist this population. How about a new tactic...??? Get them out of the area, move them over to Mirror Lake OR Crescent Lake Park. There is also a beautiful grassy area at the Vinoy Golf Club on Snell Isle. Remember; Location, Location, Location... I bet something wonderful will happen when the venue for these people change.

Company clerk. I COULD NOT AGREE MORE. They can talk all they want to them and NOTHING will happen. I ~~~ several times a month make it a point to strike up a conversation with them and they CHOOSE to live like that. They DON'T want to grow and have a better life. They get fed and live under bridges beg for $$ and collect their welfare check that is A OK to them. I have ALWAYS said they should move the Salvation Army to a much more convenient location. It's too far away for the down and outs and druggies from the city. And WE of course the tax payers have the pleasantries to pick up their trash, drug baggies from OUR front yard......I am ALL for helping - but how can you help when they are perfectly fine living like this and why do I/We have to deal with the aftermath from their free meal Styrofoam containers on our yard. PLEASE CITY OFFICIALS AND MAYOR AGAIN>>>>> WE NEED HELP AND NEED IT NOW!!!!!

Have "we" done anything about the homeless and drug users along 4th St. South?? Are "we" doing anything to move the Salvation Army?? I almost hit a man in his maybe 20-30's because he came running from across the street - screaming and picking at himself like bugs were on him.......clearly he was drugged out. He was lucky that I am VERY vigilant when driving in that area and did not hit him - because it would have been my fault of course. This area is an eyesore with so much good going on in this city - we need to not be overlooked anymore. Please advice as to what is in place to clean up this area.... awaiting response. Thanks you

Sppd needs to id these tranients. I dont believe there are girl scout cookies in those back packs

Yes - I agree they need to be moved. I don't understand WHY we can not get a FIRM answer on what will be taking place along 4th St. South. Every time I see the homeless and the druggies I find I HAVE TO dodge them. I've been told to use 3rd St. - BUT WHY??? Using another street doesn't solve the problem. This city needs to WORK AS A CITY whether it's the south, north, east or west. They need to resolve what is going on in the area. The Salvation Army is a detriment to this area. They serve no purpose to the homeless or the drug addicts........move them

THIS PROBLEM is not a big deal... It has been reported multiple times. Change the address by a block or two and you have multiple reports of the SAME problem. EXPAND your vision and now there are HUNDREDS of reports of homeless (vagrants, drug addicts, pan-handlers, alcohol filled) people LIVING on 4th Street for the past few years. Each time the powers that be has only ONE response; 'Someone from Social Services will respond'. WE NEVER get to see the reports from Social Services who probable speak with the same people time and time again. We could save the Taxpayers money instead of sending out Social Services by just putting a permanent Kiosk for them on 4th Street. They could hand out sandwiches, bus passes, bicycles, condoms and pamphlets, ALL PAID for by the taxpayers... And Again, this would resolve NOTHING. There are laws in the city that could be applied and ALL of these Homeless Persons could have their day in Court. By issuing a Citation/Summons to each offender of LAWS already on the Books... These people JUST MIGHT move to another Jurisdiction, Thus Solving This MASSIVE Problem.

I came up with a logical solution and it was blocked. Yay Team.

I was told to drive a different rout the problem is out of control no matter where i drive in my neighborhood
the confrontation is every where due to the non engagement . The once beautiful sunshine city is now the trashed out homeless city with the new overwhelming majority becoming a city of homeless transients not to mention the crime .What ever happened to serve and protect

The Cty is NEVER going to do anything anout the homeless. The ONLY way this will change is for the citizens to organize and do something. Picket the Salvation Army? A class action lawsuit against the Salvation Army? Against the City? A neighborhood group of vigilantes who force the homeless to move to Snell Island or Beech Drive (where the City WILL do something about them). Stop paying state/city taxes until the City does something? Entice the homeless to Beech Drive by setting up free food booths there? (The BEST idea i thnk!)

You know that even when the businesses around here complain and the City still ignores them , that the ONLY thing that the city cares about is Beach Drive! A couple of hours a day if we each took turns sitting giving out free food right on Beach Drive in that nice big park across from all those rich businesses and wealthy people we could have the homeless there day and night urinating and pooping… How quick do you think the City would act then?! LOL! LETS DO IT!!!

Veterans, Homeless, and Social Services - there is STILL A HUGE problem with the homeless the druggies and the Salvation Army. I'm with Goldnwolf......I will picket, I will get on board with a class action suit and I will be more then happy to cook and set up "shop" on Beach Drive to entice the homeless to go there - then maybe then the city will open their eyes!! I was told to contact a local media outlet and have them come down to 4th St. South report and bring awareness to the ever growing problem.

They are not homeless there home is now our once nice family neighborhoods. We work we pay taxes we VOTE.
They infest our neighborhoods with no resistance with a show of public deficiency they are coddled and rewarded by the municipalities special programs special contractors special housing special everything the issue is not special . The issue is a pandemic

34th street in between 30th ave and 38th ave social services needs to help these people

Yes!!!!! I called EMT last week for him. The answer I got was he is ALWAYS picked up or attended to and he refuses to go to the ER. Mostly at the bus stops on 4th St. S and 13th Ave, South........He sincerely has no business being left to his own recognizance .... he probably CAN NOT afford the $10 cover per night to sleep at the Salvation Army. In which NEEDS to be relocated!!!!!!!! When will this be addressed OFFICIALS???? Awaiting answers.............

They are not going to do anything about it!! All I know is if I spent $300K on a house and cant walk around my neighborhood after dark (current situation)--THINGS ARE GOING TO GET UGLY REAL SOON!!!!

Law enforcement issues (trespassing, vagrancy, illegal parking or any other illegal activities, noise ordinance violations, etc.) need to be reported directly to the St. Petersburg Police Department by calling 727-893-7780 (for non-emergencies) or 911 (for emergencies.)
