Deskripsyon

I live at 625 23rd st., which is enveloped by a homeless encampment. Aside from the tremendous rat/vector problem, and other grave public health threats that this entails, the situation for pedestrians is now incredibly dangerous. There is a high level of reckless driving on 23rd st. and i am not able to safely use the sidewalk walking in either direction on my street. This is due to tents on one side of ,y place and a trailer parked at 605 23rd st. on the other. I cannot use the sidewalk, wlaking in either direction, and I have nearly been hoit by a car on more than one occasion.

This situation calls for immediate intervention.

Please alse contact Code enforcement 238-3381 to file a complaint the more or neighbors that complain the better. Parking enforcement 238-3099 call often, Nuisance abatement 238-6370 also call often. for the rats Alameda Co vector control 567-6800.

Mat, I called Oakland Parking Enforcement at (510) 238-3099 three times. All you get is a message saying to leave a message and phone and they will call you back. They never called me back. Oakland doesn't respond to anything until there's a shooting. I also have two service request about this issue. You may seen my similar photo of this dated 7/10/18

Oakland has become a completely reactive city. As you said it there is a shooting or a found body or a large uproar from the taxpayers in the news these under worked and overpaid bureaucrats want to do nothing. A while back I heard someone was looking into having hundreds of personal small claims lawsuits filed against our elected officials? 10,000 dollars times several hundred lawsuits might get someones attention? You have stay on them because they are hoping you will give up and keep paying your taxes.

David, at this point I'm sufficiently exasperated to commit time and energy to such an effort. Let me know if you have any ideas. Some community action along these lines is definitely needed.

I certainly understand. I am just tring to pass on information that's has worked for me in the past. It takes a lot of energy to get anything done. When you have time find out what police beat and NCPC you are in this can be very helpful.

Dear Oakland 311. How can you possibility closed this issue. Who are the people that are reporting to you saying that it fixed? Are they just reporting it fixed and not doing their jobs? If so, in the private sector, this will be grounds for termination not because of Just Cause but for Misconduct. Just look at the attached Dated Photo. As you can see, nothing has changed since the photo of 7/10.

Yeah, I'm appalled that they would "close" this issue. The situation at 23rd and MLK is scandalous and a cause of shame to the city. It is unfair both to the tent-dwellers and people like me, who pay rent to live here. Rats, feces, and all manner of filth are basically permanent feature of this locale. On top of this, there is a high level of crime and noise pollution.

I am not litigious person, but the fact that even sidewalk access is now often a "luxury", is making me a bit more inclined in that direction.

Matthew the issues you list are actually plaguing most of Oakland. They are not isolated to just 23rd and MLK. These issues are rampant throughout the entire city. Unfortunately, nothing is going to be done about it because the Oakland city government is under corrupt "progressive" demo.crat control. Whenever cities elect Demo.crats they systematically destroy them until they are reduced to a husk. Just take a look at what they did to Detroit. This happens to every city that votes Demo.crat. Hey guys, today the RV trailer is finally out. I talked to the tenant who owns it. He apologize for the inconvenience. He said that he temporary park it there until he secured a site for it which is not a valid excuse. The City did NOTHING. The City had three weeks to act and nothing was done.

For the record, the city did NOTHING . This particular issue was resolved by neighbors intervening, not through any help form the city. Also, the same patch of sidewlak is now obstructed by a tent. I have no way to safely access my residence.

Matthew, I reported this issue on 8/6/18, Issue ID #4770878, Service Request ID #832305. Since the City didn't do anything, it's implied that all you have to do is walk in the street into on coming vehicle traffic. Since you well and capable, it should be no big deal since the handicap people in wheel chairs and mother with baby strollers are doing it. . . . right? See my photo, it's a nice wide street to walk barring no vehicle traffic . . . right?
