These curb cuts are in place for handicap ramps to be installed in the future. They were inspected and bonded by engineering and will be poured either when the corner lots are developed or when the street is resurfaced. If you have any questions please feel free to call us at 256-883-3944. We will now close this request and we thank you for using Huntsville Connect! PWS
The builder/developer has installed the handicap ramps in some areas in this subdivision but not all of them. They are getting close to being sold out, shouldn't the city make the builder/developer install them? This neighborhood is not that old, the streets are not going to be resurfaced anytime soon.
The public works department maintains existing infrastructures. Please contact the engineering department with any questions regarding this issue. They can be contacted at 256-427-5300. Thank you for using Huntsville Connect! PWS

Public Works has been working with the Engineering Department for a response to this issue. We are aware that handicap ramps do not exist at all necessary locations within Lake Forest. There are multiple scenarios for handicap ramp installation. A home builder may be responsible for constructing a ramp if no home currently exists on the property. If a home currently exists with no ramp, then the City will evaluate the site conditions to determine if a compliant handicap ramp can be constructed based upon current ADA standards prior to construction. In areas that cannot accommodate an ADA complaint ramp, we will remove the curb opening and a new curb and gutter section will be installed. This will be done based upon construction schedules for work within the area.
