  anyplace there is a sand box that is left uncovered there will be cat poop. 100%. Suggest getting a removable or hinged plywood top or replacing sand with pea gravel.

  This is human feces. The person living in the tent has left garbage around his tent as well. Families come with their children here and there is a pre school right across the street as well.

  Wilma I understand your disgust and frustration about this issue. Unfortunately, the city of Oakland government is fundamentally corrupt and couldn't care less what the children of Oakland go through. They are well aware of these encampments and the effect they are having on the city and its residents. None of this is anything they aren't already aware of. The bottom line is that they do not care. Our corrupt mayor wants to convince the world that she's an infallible, loving and tolerant progressive and part of her PR campaign is making sure that these homeless degenerates get a free pass to defecate in our playgrounds (along with letting criminals in general do whatever they want without any interference from OPD.) This is just the grim reality that we are facing. If you, like me, are fed up with this then I strongly advise you to vote these corrupt scum out of office and get some competent people in charge. Join the community in holding corrupt city officials accountable and drain the proverbial swamp that is Oakland's city government

  Tents being pitched within feet of a playground designed for babies and toddlers is unacceptable. If the city has decided that they will leave homeless people be, at least see that they stay out of children's playgrounds. The man in the tent next to the playground has a large dog and has threatened people with a hammer. I saw a stroller literally fee held responsible. Perhaps another expensive lawsuit against the city?

  Oakland Mama unfortunately suing the city doesn't achieve much. We're just suing ourselves since the money they use to settle the law suit comes out of our pockets (the taxpayers). The city officials who are letting these atrocities continue throughout Oakland aren't paying for the consequences out of their own pockets, they can just use our money to settle any lawsuits they get hit with and continue doing what they've been doing. This has been their M.O. for decades now. What we need is to enact some new policies to hold them actually accountable by making them pay out of their own pockets. We can't keep bailing them out for their own greed and corruption
