The traffic coming in on the side streets creates major congestion on Oyster Point and then the traffic is blocked in all directions through at least one light and people are cutting off other people and cutting in. also besides congestion and slowness the frustration is causing people to cut in and potentially cause major accidents.

Agree this is the current and very frustrating problem on Oyster Point, but there is a looming bigger issue coming with all the new development along OPB. The road can barely handle current traffic levels and there are about to be thousands of more people working on OPB. I was hoping that UPS would have figured it out with the city for all of us, but seeing how fragile the road systems is, as this bridge closure that is miles away is causing problems makes me think there are HUGE problems ahead.

We need to bring in more person directed traffic control. How does all this square with EIR's on the proposed additions and modifications?

Ever since the now in operative metering lights and the traffic flow change due to The Cove complex, traffic has gotten very congested. The lights are not timed and as such backups are created across intersections. It usually takes two light cycles to remedy only to start anew. Having commuted for over 10 years I have seen traffic increase with no remediation apparently planned by the city.

The gridlock on the way out in the evening is next-level. Since the bridge closure on South Airport, it is now taking - on average - 20 minutes to get just from the 395 and 400 buildings at the end of OPB to Gateway. It takes multiple cycles of the traffic lights before the blocked intersections clear enough to move forward. And while you patiently wait behind the line on your green, so as not to add to the blockage, people zip in from the side streets and fill the intersections. It's easy to be courteous to other drivers when traffic is moving, but it turns into this frantic, salty competition every evening at 5:00. Traffic in the Bay Area is bad enough, and this just compounds the frustration.

Agreed, and it's starting earlier and earlier. The other day I left 400 Oyster Point at 4:00 PM and it was already bad. Took me a good 20+ minutes to make it to the freeway.

I can't begin to imagine how long it will take to go from 400 Oyster Point to 101 after all of these new buildings have tenants. The stoplights need better timing or officer directed traffic. How can all of the new developments be approved without any infrastructure improvements?

Agree especially with Brett and emphasis that there is simply not enough road for the volume of cars which will only increase with the new buildings going up. One solution might be to build a short road to connect Veterans Blvd. with Shoreline Court which would allow drivers from the east side of Oyster Pt Blvd. (ie The Cove) to exit via Shoreline Ct. at the Sierra Point / Hwy. 101 ramp and relieve some congestion at the Oyster Point bottleneck.

In addition to connecting Veterans Blvd. with Shoreline Court, it would be ideal to build a complete cloverleaf on/off ramps at Shoreline/Sierra Point/Hwy.101 so that drivers who want to travel south on Hwy.101 from Shoreline Ct. wouldn't need to drive a mile north on the Sierra Point Pkwy. frontage road and make a U-turn in order to just get on 101 southbound. It seems this might require cooperation between both cities of South San Francisco and Brisbane since the area overlaps.

The issue needs to be resolved ASAP. The flow of additional traffic (presumably because of the closure along south airport drive and I380) coming from the south on Gull Drive and Eccles on to Oyster Point has caused this backup. We need traffic control to come out and figure out how to prevent this overflow or to relieve this backup by making the traffic flow much quicker into and through the 101 overpass at Oyster Point and sister cities blvd. You should consider traffic engineer analysis, but have immediate coordinated traffic control at at least four points Gateway and Gull, Gateway and Oyster, Oyster and Dubuque, Sister Cities and Airport. Please respond immediately.

The signal lights need to be re-synced based on the traffic count and traffic to get us out of the business park. This needs to be done when the So. Airport issue is fixed as well. The lights are messed up even in normal times and everyone spends time sitting at red lights for 1-2 minutes when no one is turning or using that intersection.

Any new or modification to existing traffic control needs to go through the TAC (Traffic Advisory Committee). This has been added into the June 23rd agenda. Thank you for your inputs.

I don't think fixing the traffic lights will address the issue. Yesterday the traffic lights were cycling multiple times with no movement at all. It took 30 minutes to get from 400 Oyster Point to 101. A more substantial modification to traffic control will be necessary.

Terrible congestion. The Airport Blvd So. bridge needs to be re-opened as soon as possible, and the traffic lights need to by synced to make traffic move more efficiently. Lot of frustration on the streets causing drivers to drive poorly and act aggressively.

That's really terrible traffic I have ever meet , in and out both lanes are on traffic jam when on the way to duty,

Several co-workers out at 395 Oyster Point have had it take at least 30-35 minutes to get to 101 due to all of the traffic (presumably from Genentech due to the S Airport Blvd closure), and this means business is impacted for many of us at the end of the point with no alternate routes to pursue.

The traffic certainly needs addressed in light of the development and growing office parks (the Cove and whatever else is to come), but we need an immediate intervention to manage the traffic while S Airport Blvd is repaired.
