I walk a lot in downtown and I like living. My neon green jacket and flashing light have helped me survive thru this dark winter. People drive fast and talk on the phone. The sidewalks are not kept up (it is getting better); the trees block the street lights. Lots of the lights are broken. SeeClickFix has done a great job in getting lights repaired. And giving us an easier place to report. I am so sorry Anita got killed. My heart goes out to her family.

Being concerned that people are being killed is not racist. I'd like City of Raleigh to address this issue.

We're so sorry the city felt it was a waste of time to address this. That seems to be the attitude, and see clickfix sure not perfect but at least lets some things be made public. There needs to be much more lighting. A while back there was news that the new kinds of lights would be tried, but i think they were out on Gorman st? I wish the city would look at lighting from every pole on both sides on Edenton and NewBern, the emergency/medical and fire routes, the streets off of those routes with food places that get a lot of walking traffic and the bus routes all need better visibilty from Lights. The street signs could use more light or reflection too. I do not even want to think about more people or children getting hit in Raleigh when we can solve this. People live here, work and go to school, much federal and local money is supposed to be used making it safe and attractive. Not a waste of resources but responsible use.

I think there should be a walk in the dark some night with Councilman Weeks and some city folks. We can bring cameras with nightvision to document the lack of light between poles with lights and look at places that need the light for safety and crime prevention. LED lights would go a long way toward making Raleigh a better city to live and work in .

By being so aggravated in your reporting of issues, you are compromising the effectiveness of seeclickfix. In the future, take emotions out of the cases, and people will want to help your cause. somebody died on the street near our house, she was soomebody lots of people know, she couldn't be seen , like a lot of folks. I don't want to hit anybody , and it bothers many people that the city doesn't take the suggestions very well. This forum is now all nasty with people like Ms. Lane chopping at anybody and others being the mouth piece for how it should go. This service isn't just about altruism it's a $ thing anyway. Does anybody care about the ramped up drug and violent crime happening in our neighborhoods? I saw 3 cars with their windows busted out yesterday morning, and last week saw a lot of new gang members walking back and forth letting everybody know that they were taking terrritory. Light would prevent someof this, and would help us.

Yes! Mr. Governor make this happen! Our college kids need to be safe to come to school here in the city not just the beautiful campus, those yellow buses here mean that kids live here, get the drug sellers and prostitutes and GANGS out of here, if these streets were lit up and police could see who was out here there would be some possibility of change. I don't want to die before this gets better.
