11 days. How long does it take for the City to take action? We have a strip club that remodeled with no permits , never got permits to open , constantly exceeds fire density requirements and it’s been operating for months! We have Duke Energy allowing people to park in their vacant lot even though they never got permits or hot zoned for such. It seems like if you want to do something in this city… You just do it! We have laws , let’s start enforcing them!

I agree! There was a murder 3 weeks ago in the parking lot. What more is it going to take!! Cars racing up and down 13th ave s ALL hours of the night radio blasting. What is TAKING THE CITY SO LONG TO CLOSE THIS PLACE??? Do they have INVESTED INTEREST. Sick.....CLOSE IT DOWN!!! Before someone else gets KILLED!!

Why was this blocked? Just wondering. A murder took place there 24 days ago....

Answer received today , 4/26/2018 : “the cases related to 1239 and 1235 4th Street South went before the Codes Enforcement Board yesterday. The Board found the violations to exist as fact and conclusion of law and ordered the owner to correct the zoning and permit violations within 60 days or a $100 per day fine will accrue. The board gave 20 days for the sign on the north side of the building to be brought in to compliance. We will continue to take progressive legal action as permitted by State Statue.

So am I reading this correctly........this STRIP Club is going to be able to continue to operate? Please advise. And ALL they have to do is bring their sign up to compliance? What? This is a joke right??

I tried to explain exactly what was happening but as you can see they block my post. I guess they don’t like it when you denigrate the city even if the city deserves it… All I was trying to say was their policies have to change… I think we all can agree on that it’s too bad they just block my post instead of hopefully maybe learning off of this episode...

So very frustrating.......

Start contacting Duke Energy direct, they do not like bad relations with the cities or public.

This would have been shut down if it happen on the north side! remember the south side is the undesirables!!

I understand your concerns.
The property is zoned CCT-1 which allows for indoor or outdoor bars and restaurants. We did put a condition on the change of use request that any use would be inside only. In addition, we also have a new noise ordinance that requires more stringent noise considerations adjacent to residential uses. This new ordinance is enforced by the police department. So if you find you are being disturbed the facility give them a call at the non-emergency number 727-893-7780. Please let me know if I can help further.

What about parking? Will they again be parking on my street and using our yards as a bathroom?
What about the 2 apartments attached to the back of the club that are NOT zoned or permitted?
What kind of "club" reggae?
And with that being said we are going to have to continuously call the police and fire because we ALL know there will be over the 74 person capacity?
We are very concerned neighbors. Do you know who we can speak too to keep this from happening?

we (our neighborhood) located on 13 th Ave South and 4th St South (Innovation District), have been "dealing" with code violations and permit violations at 1239 4th St South. This was the old Sugar Room Strip club that was shut down April 2018 after a murder took place in the parking lot. Our problem is they are opening up another "club".
After countless letters and emails and complaints on see it click it fix it no one is getting back to us with answers as to why this is allowed?
I understand that they are allowed 74 people total at any given time inside. You do realize there will be way more then 74 people on any given Thursday, Friday and Saturday night?
We are they going to park? On my street like they did before and used our yards as a bathroom and found drug bags in our driveway???
Also there are 2 apartments attached behind this club facing south on 13th Ave South. From what I understand they are not permitted at all or zoned.
I/we just need answers. I believe that we are doing our very best to clean up our neighborhood and now they want to open a place of Nuisance. Where as we will be very taxing on our police officers and fire EVERY weekend when the "club" is over 74 persons capacity.
Is there any way we can find out about this shopping center and get back with me with some answers?
I really think this could be a great neighborhood, however you bring back the "club" element it's not a good look for an up and coming district.

This notice has come up multiple times, however WE the folks in the neighborhood have not seen or heard of any resolution.
Why are the illegal structures still in use? These should have been shut down months ago.
Why is the club allowed to operate without a license ?
Lastly, why are you the city not doing your job? You are leaving neighbors in a very risky situation to police this ourselves.
