Description

My excise tax was due and paid on time within the 30 day period in March 2017 for 211.25 I traded in my car i July 2017. I received a notice of certificate of abatement on 11/7/17 that an abatement of 105.63 was issued and would take up to 8 weeks to be received. I called the city on 11.18.18 and the check is still not processed. The city expects me to pay my taxes on time and will fine me if not paid on time, however I cant seem to make the city accountable for paying me what I am owed on time. Perhaps we need to look at a more efficient process.Instead of waisting paper and time on the day the abatement certificate is issued, a check should be attached. A more streamlined process. You are holding onto my money that is owed and therefore the city should pay a fee or interest on that money just as I have to pay a fee if I am late with my payment .
