City of Dixon
This location will be upgraded as part of the following project: Starting the week of July 17, cobra head street lights (those with an arm extending the light over the road) will be changed to LED street lights. LED lights will reduce energy costs and, because they last longer, reduce maintenance costs. Approximately 350 lights on Dixon’s busiest streets were converted several years ago. This latest project will convert another 788 lights in July and early August. The final phase will convert the remaining 116 cobra head lights in September. These lights are located in many of Dixon’s residential neighborhoods. Residents may notice the light pattern is different with LED lights. Generally the pattern is more even without the very bright area directly under a light and less dark space between lights. The work is being performed by a subcontractor to P.G.&E. The cost is funded through a zero interest loan from P.G.&E. and paid back from the cost savings of lower energy costs. If you have any questions about this project, contact Janet Koster, Public Works Operations Manager at, 707-678-7051 x4104.
