At Saxonville dam there is one accidental planting of a mulberry tree and several wisteria, trumpet and hydrangea vines planted in such a way that the woody growth is gradually pushing apart the concrete blocks of the dam. These are more than capable of breaching the dam and doing millions of $ in damage. You have seen photos of how a tree, which seeded in a rock crevice, eventually splits the boulder in two? Same process.
The vines and tree are on Central Street side to the left of the memorial plaque.

The spot of land with the plantings on it is owned by the John H. Finley trust with the area being maintained by the Framingham garden club. The Dam is owned by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Unfortunately the Town of Framingham does not have jurisdiction over either parcel.
Thank you.
