Thank you for reporting the tall grass/overgrown weeds in the area to the City of St. Charles. Our Streets Department has been notified about this request and a crew member will be by to check this location. We appreciate your help in improving the look of our City!

We have been in contact with MoDOT and they have been made aware of this situation. They intend to mow that area tomorrow. The last mowing, they did not have smaller mowers and could not get all areas (and missed quite a few) which we pointed this out to them. We will continue to monitor the mowing in the area and will coordinate with MoDOT to make sure that it is done and done properly.
We will also contact SSM Health to ensure that they maintain appropriate standards as well.

This area near the new Ramos and South Fifth Street still has tall weeds and tall grass near the new SSM outpatient building and Fifth Street ramp. High weeds at the sidewalk near Time Centre apartments. Weeds look to be a yardstick high. Neither the City of St. Charles, nor MODOT, nor the property owners are doing anything. This is a newly enhanced driving area with taxpayer funds, and it IS NOT BEING MAINTAINED. Where is the accountability and code enforcement? There is no excuse and it reflects on the City's lax passivity. Looks terrible!

I resubmitted this issue because it was not resolved within a 20-day period. That is a LOT of time for an issue to remain unresolved. There is no excuse for the lack of mowing and weed trimming in this highly visible area. It needs to be monitored and responsible parties need to be held accountable by the City of St. Charles.

In coordination with Public Works, we have established a mowing program to mow from Fairgrounds east, every two weeks. The Medians on 5th St. will be mowed weekly. Unfortunately, those areas along I-70 and the ramp areas are still under MoDOT control and they have only committed to mowing 4 times per season (about once per month) due to their commitments. We are trying to rectify as much of the problem as possible and will continue to work to long-term solution that is acceptable to all.
