There is no reason why bikes should not be allowed. The park regulations need to be changed

I second that, this is a rule that can be changed, since getting a bike lane around the park seems to be a problem. Take example on Hyde Park in London, where bikes are restricted to some paths.

Too dangerous to bike around it. City of Boston should be concerned with the safety of users by allowing them to bike through the common if they aren't going to give cyclists a lane

That is not a satisfactory answer, is not Parks part of the city off Boston?? Please discuss with them and get back to me

Why doesn't Commisioner Cook hold a public hearing instead of discussing the policy with one constituent. That would allow everyone to make their voices heard. Quite frankly opening the park to bicycles is a wonderful idea and needs to get traction.

That isn't an answer to what the city plans to do about providing a safe bike route either through or around the park. The Parks Commissioner must address this important issue

Chris, it's Ok, I had a call with Commissioner Cook and he's very sympathetic to the situation. The ban is not actively enforced and Commissioner Cook committed to reviewing this as part of the park revamp/re-eval next year with an eye on this as a goal and we discussed implementations, safety and awareness.

All the best, I think this shall come our way in the mean time, use the Common as you would a sidewalk
