Description
Avon Ct which connects to Norwood Ct, both public roads used daily by both residents and multiple businesses has deteriorated to a point where residents cannot make it up the driveway anymore. Large trucks and trailers use this road multiple times daily to get to Americold, Harborview House, Browns Boatyard and EMC. As a resident I have had to spend over $200 on replacing suspension issues on my car because of attempting to ascend my own driveway which is a public town road. Americold keeps the gate connected to Avon court locked therefore forcing me and my neighbors to try and ascend the potholed ridden driveway multiple times a day in fear of ruining our cars undercarriages. As a neighborhood we have come together to fill the holes as best as possible but it's now at the point where we can no longer fill these craters because of the local business/truck traffic. Please at least assess the damage and take into consideration the residents that reside in this harborside loop shared with commercial businesses. Thank you!

Avon Court and Norwood Court are in fact private ways, not public roads (please see street listing: http://gloucester-ma.gov/DocumentCenter/View/3425 ). The City is responsible for the "temporary pot hole repair in the subsuface of the road" by City Code of Ordinances Sect. 21-80, Repair and Maintenance of Private Ways (https://www.municode.com/library/ma/gloucester/codes/code_of_ordinances?nodeId=PTIICOOR_CH21STSIOTPUPL_ARTIVREPRWA). But the condition of Avon Court is beyond temorary pothole repair.
Please reach out to your ward Councilor Scott Memhard at 978-283-1955.
