It sounds like you are new here. Keep the double paned windows closed at night. If you are hot, get a fan. Most trains use a "silent horn". Granted its not actually silent but the noise is reduced compared to their actual horn. By law they have to use their horns 20 secs leading up to the crossing. Unfortunately we are located next to the Amtrak station and 2 crossings, so the noise is inevitable. There are 2-3 trains throughout the weeknights that are jerks and don't follow this rule (use louder horn and honk for what seems like an eternity). If it bothers you enough, try to get video and report it.

We've been here 3 years. You get used to it after the first 3 weeks or so. If you are at one of the apartments near or facing the crossing, talk to the leasing office to see if you can be moved to another apartment. This place is not for light sleepers.

As a side note, I heard through an ex-Artistry worker that there is a group of residents here trying to establish this area as a quiet zone. I would try to find more info.

I don't mind the horn, but due to paying more than 2000 a month for a Studio; a tenant should not have to deal
with the middle of the night horn. I won't complain if the rent was only 1000 a month.
