Issue Acknowledged - Operation Clean Sweep will begin near the End of April and Pavement marking begins shortly after.

Miro Weinberger should be embarrassed to have this sort of statement issued by DPW. There are literally no lines visible on large sections of what DPW claims are bike lanes. This happens every year and DPW often doesn't repaint the lines until June. DPW has the ability to properly maintain these lanes with durable signage. We and our children are endangered by Miro's lack of action on this.

Per Director DPW; There was a miscommunication from the Street Maintenance Manager - We have one sweeper out weather pending and are in the process of trying to get another ready. Line painting can not happen until the bid goes out, streets are swept and the pavement temperature is 58 degrees.

This has nothing to do with Miro. This has to do with a DPW which manages an entire city. I am all in favor of cycling. The loose debris on the road happens EVERY year. In order to cost effectively manage the city they can not sweep everything all the time. It occurs at the end of April because typically we are done with winter and then debris is removed.

Thanks for the request RJ. One sweeper is out already today. It's focused on North Ave right now. We are getting another sweeper ready. According to long time employees, this is the earliest we've ever swept. Regarding long line painting, we are looking to do this as soon as is feasible. Yes, a couple of years ago, due to several factors (weather, contractor issues), we painted in June. Since then, we've worked diligently to reduce risks and expedite the painting. The painting last year was done in April. We've already put the contract out to bid. We're discussing the schedule with the winning bidder now. The pavement temp must be 58 degrees at night -- because that is when we can paint with the least amount of disruption and not have cars driving over wet paint. Thanks for your prompt response. It will be great to have the lanes swept so children don't have to swerve into traffic. Unfortunately with the stripes gone the traffic swerves into the lanes themselves. This happens predictably every year and the result is that we have confusing unsafe conditions for a good deal of the year. Thanks for your work on this and I will encourage the Mayor to put in some protected bike lanes.

As part of PlanBTV Walk/Bike implementation, we intend to install a protected bike lane this year and some other exciting low-stress facilities for people on bikes -- including a long E/W connector across the Old North End. More news soon.

Unfortunately, I don't recall a fall clean sweep and this is often the case--leaving an excess of debris in the roads and clogging drains with leaves through the winter. Please note that the city has a published policy for street sweeping (attached).

The best way is to request specific streets that are in need of attention. The requests can be submitted by calling Customer Service (802-863-9094x3) or submitting them through SeeClickFix.

Street sweeping began today. We will continue as the weather cooperates.

Thanks for the work on North Ave yesterday. The morning commute today was so much better/cleaner than before. Still a few spots where cold patch seems to have adhered to the ground, but a huge improvement over the mess that was there before.
