Description

the Fairlawn Park subdivision sign in the small island on 78th ave at approx. 67th st is very overgrown with weeds and looks terrible as a welcoming sign to this neighborhood.....if it could not be properly maintained as to promote a good image it should never have been initiated in the first place. Please have it regularly maintained or it should be concreted.....Please, please help on this matter iit is an eyesore and a bad reflection on the neighborhood upon entry

I concur. The condition of this medium is disgraceful. Compared to the adjoining Bardmoor community properties it appears as if someone is entering a slum area. This kind of maintenance didn't occur back when our own people scheduled and did their own work. Now that it appears that everything is sub-contracted out, details are left by the wayside and the only time something is down is on demand via ClickFix. I wonder if City Council and the Mayor know how bad things have deteriorated? Attached is a photo of the Fairlawn medium in question. As one can obviously surmise it's been a long time since any attention has been given this medium so this is not just a "we got it last month, it will be done again this month item!"

The Fairlawn median has recently been added to a contractor's route. Beginning in October the contractor will begin maintaining this median and it will be maintained on a more frequent schedule. The median was treated last week for invasive plant growth. Results should be seen soon. Once the vegetation has died it will be removed.

Had occastion to go by this area today and it does certainly look as though it was treated because now all the former weeds are brown and dead and even uglier than before so I hope that whoever doesn't waste time returning to in your words, "remove the dead vegetation" so that this eyesore doesn't continue on indefinitely. Will be keeping an eye on it because seeing is believing!.

want to note that yes, weeds have been killed but then not removed, rather the dead parts were chopped or weed -eated but nothing was removed as per your original input so that all the remains are scattered through the median. Why was it addressed in cheapest way possible. Why cant it be cleared and mulched to be presentable rather than unsightly........we deserve better for our tax dollars

The new agreement that begins in October requires the contractor to mulch the garden beds twice per year. One of these mulching events is scheduled in the agreement to occur in October.

Just a suggestion. The entire point of having the SeeClickFix Ap is to improve communications between the city residents and city government. It would seem that it would greatly improve communications if the city was more transparent and explicit in their responses. It certainly would have saved the last comment if the city had reported on what the contractor's entire responsibilities' entailed. After all, there is nothing secret about it, correct? It's a matter of public record? You've got to admit that leaving the job half done makes it appear as if it's going to be left half done.

Yes, thank you for your comments because I am in complete agreement. Had I known the whole plan, it would have saved us all time reviewing this several times over. I do thank the public works dept for their response and will wait and see how contractors handle this issue in October
