Descrição

My name is Patrick Steiden. I wanted to draw attention to an issue I am facing as a resident of the Talley Street Lofts.

Recently, I have found out that there is a non compete in place with Comcast for the property. Given the city's enthusiasm for the Fiber project, does the city have any authority to intervene to allow for the Fiber expansion to reach our property? We are directly across the street from Public Works, and I can only imagine that allowing this expansion will make it easier to add their property to this new high speed network, adding value to our units, and a much improved infrastructure for internet access.

I believe that allowing Comcast to maintain this stranglehold on any property in the city is fundamentally against the nature of our community. If they truly wish to convince us that their service is the better, let them open the gates for actual competition, instead of a poor second place option from AT&T.
