This was reported to 311 on 2 previous occasions (though I am unsure of the complaint #s), to no change. Here are details from the most recent 311 complaint filed today:

Still happening...

The Department of Environmental Protection did not observe a violation of the New York City Air/Noise Code at the time of inspection and could not issue a notice of violation. If the problem still exists, please call 311 and file a new complaint. If you are outside of New York City, please call (212) NEW-YORK (212-639-9675).

This is still ongoing. Huge plumes of dark grey smoke were coming out of this building at 730 this morning. The bldg manager and super told us they "know it's a problem" and had plans to "clean out the chimney". This most definitely is not closed.

Please report this issue again to 311. Often issues must be reported several times. DEP inspector must witness smoke in order to issue a violation to building. 311 rep stated she could not connect me with the DEP representative, as CB14 told me to insist I get connected to, and that the 185#s DEP used to issue are no longer used, replaced by the C# above.

DEP investigated under service number 185560131 on 4/1/13 and the inspector did not find any black smoke coming out at the location at the time of inspection, which was conducted from 7:15am till 8:00am.

The smoke does not come out constantly, it comes out in spurts every couple hours. If you inspect for 45 minutes you might not see it. CB14 - do you know if the DEP has seen the photograph that was posted above?

Please file a new complaint through 311 and forward us the service request number. FYI, yes the picture was sent to DEP.

This problem has not been resolved after almost a year. The smoke continues to come out periodically and has a strong noxious smell.

This is still going on, morning day and night. The smell is noxious and we often have to close our windows after this smoke is emitted.
