Description
People traveling on 9th avenue coming and going to Martin Luther King Jr roadway use excessive speed through the neighborhood as well as travel on the oncoming side of the median! Everyone has already tried the police route, and noone come and monitors the area, period. There areany kids in this area that play in the medians due to the lack of yard space and have nearly been struck by cars who have no regard for their safety. There needs to be more than one traffic control device (the one speedbump in our neighborhood), or steady monitoring by an LEO using static radar, because this is getting out of hand. Start writing them tickets and get the point across, I would hope that it wouldn't take a child or person (we have deaf individuals on our street) getting hurt before St. Petersburg 'cares.'

(posted on behalf of Assistant Chief Luke Williams, SPPD) Thank you for your e-mail, SeeClickFix # 2104112, dated December 14, 2015, regarding speeding issues in the 900 block of 9th Avenue South. The Mayor has asked that I respond to you directly in reference to this issue. Officer Dennis Kelly conducted a traffic operation in the area during a recent day shift. He observed the vast majority of the vehicles travelling at or near the posted speed limit. He did issue one citation for an individual driving 14 MPH over the posted speed limit. Officer Kelly will incorporate this traffic enforcement request into his regularly scheduled duties.
If you have any further issues or any other complaints, please feel free to contact Community Service Sergeant, Patty Houston at (727) 551-3127.
Thank you for bringing your concerns to the attention of the St. Petersburg Police Department.
Sincerely,
Luke C. Williams
