(posted on behalf of Assistant Chief Luke Williams, SPPD) Thank you for your submission to the City of St. Petersburg's SeeClickFix website on July 13, 2015. Chief Holloway has asked me to respond directly to you regarding your issue of a trailer blocking the street and a van parked in the driveway leaking oil onto the street. On July 14, 2015, this issue was assigned to Officer R. Merritt, who responded to 7616 18th Street N. in regards to your complaint at 2:05 p.m. Upon his arrival, Officer Merritt did not observe any trailers parked in the street as described in your submission, nor was there a van parked in the driveway leaking oil onto the street. Officer Merritt noted that there were two trailers parked in the backyard of this address. Because there were no violations observed, Officer Merritt did not make contact with the homeowner. Let it be noted, however, that Acting Sergeant Lesandro Santiago did contact the Codes and Compliance Department to collaborate with them on the most effective way to handle the a possible oil leakage violation. The Codes Investigator provided our Department with the number to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) which is 1-800 241-1754. According to the investigator, EPA would have to receive a direct phone call from the actual complainant of the possible violation to move forward, and then the severity of the issue would have to be assessed by them. Please feel free to give the EPA a call should you feel this issue warrants a call being made to them. Officer Merritt will continue to monitor this area for future violations, and we encourage you to call the non-emergency police phone number at 727-893-7780 to have an officer respond when the violation is occurring so that the issue may be dealt with expediently.
