Someone is chaining their belongings to the park benches on 2nd Ave NE on the south straub park side. The same luggage was chained to a different bench yesterday. Someone is moving it to keep resetting the code violation clock. This type of practice is more than a nuisance. It's easy to see how a bomb can be left in one of these and the city is going to sit by and watch. It's dangerous. Elevate this as a security issue please.

While Homelessness is not illegal, the City addresses homelessness and related social issues City-wide by utilizing a two-tiered philosophy of service: Referral followed by enforcement.
Our Police Department has a Street Outreach Team (PATH) that actively canvasses areas where the activities of the homeless are noticed, and they will continue doing so to ensure the safety of all citizens. Please immediately report any criminal activity or safety concerns to the SPPD directly by calling 727-893-7780 if not an emergency or 911 if an emergency. Thank you.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. On 03/21/24, our Police Assisting The Homeless (PATH) team went out to this area.
PATH spoke with the citizen who put the SeeClickFix in that morning, and a other PATH Officer responded to the location. He contacted codes, and set up for an investigator to respond to tag the items.Our Street Outreach and PATH officers are in this area daily and will continue to monitor and offer assistance to anyone they come into contact with as well as enforce local ordinances.
