Thank you. I just got notice from Rainbow Soccer of a reminder to park in appropriate spaces at the Rainbow Fields across town or face ticketing. There are similar parking scenarios causing safety concerns on Cleland during soccer events, as I have noted about SCP lot at Dogwood Acres. Maybe the town can remind all organizations using Southern Community Park that parking in a space is the expectation? Dog owners do seem grandiose about their right to parking over others in that lot but all users no matter the purpose of visit should be parking in actual spots not on the curb or lining the street. There are signs on Dogwood Acres Dr and still ppl create makeshift spots on the road there too. There’s no enforcement of the current expectation and the jumbled overload of park anywhere cars has increased as the season has progressed. I urge a town employee to make a visit there today ~5:30 when there are soccer practices, ppl heading to the dog park, & others playing disc golf before dark- to see for yourself how impossible it is to drive through the lot with cars lining both entrance/exit curbs at a time when pedestrians, bikers, & families are walking about. It’s not safe.
Fall soccer is almost over so crowds will die down again until spring in the evening and Saturdays. But, If this is a simple math issue at its core- like way more demand than spots available, then is there an overarching solution to meet need and how can that be related to park visitors?
