There is no path of travel north on Orange St. on either side of the street. (The violation that was reported to have caused an injury three years ago was recently repaired, but trip hazards exist farther south (and, technically, people with disabilities cannot be forced to take a longer route to get around ADA-violations, not only because it is 'unequal but - because - they have disabilities - and it's cruel.

And again, inexplicably, the city cut down a tree that caused some of the hazardous violations of Federal law, threw some asphalt at it and left the hazards as they were - and demonstrated, once again, an appalling lack of concern tor the public safety or the civil-rights of members of a protected class.

Finally, to the south, there are trips hazards and no tactile feedback pad, because the city ignored the alteration requirements of the ADA when it repaved Wall St.

Designating McQueeney Towers as "ADA-complaint" reveals a lack of understanding of the meaning of the term "ADA-compliant.' It does not mean "segregated."

Within the past day or two someone has pulled up a bunch of the gray bricks that were loose
and stacked them in the middle of the Plaza. Last year this resulted in the bricks being stacked into tall towers and then knocked over, bricks all around presenting a tripping hazard, and eventually a number of bricks going missing.

It's in front of an art school and they play a game with public works.

I don't quite understand what you mean. While there were a few bricks missing from this section before, most of this removal definitely happened sometime between Saturday's event that ended in the evening and early this morning, and ACES Educational Center for the Arts was closed.

It is an ongoing game. Public Works doesn't give a blank about the safety of the students or the residents of the "ADA compliant" public housing facility across the street who feel that the open areas left when the bricks are removed is safer than loose bricks that are not as noticeable.

The problem here is that this administration and the Dept. of Public Works doesn't care about the safety of students or people who are elderly and/or disabled. Please direct your justifiable indignation at those responsible.
