Description
A dangerous intersection at E Watersville Rd and Old Frederick Rd, it currently has two stop signs but I think it should be at least a 4 way stop signs with flashing stop signs. The intersection is adjacent to Mount Airy Christian Academy school.
I have personally observed multiple almost accidents at this intersection and have also been involved in near collisions at this intersection.

STOP sign application is regulated by federal guidelines. STOP sign should be installed in a manner that minimizes the numbers of vehicles having to stop. In most cases, the street carrying the lowest volume of traffic should be stopped. In order to qualify for a multiway STOP control, the combined vehicular, pedestrian, and bicycle volume entering the intersection from the minor street approaches (total of both approaches) averages at least 200 units per hour for 8 hours during a day. Total vehicular volume entering intersection from major street approaches (total of both approaches) averages at least 300 vehicles per hour for any 8 hours of the day.
The preliminary multiway stop warrant study was performed for this intersection with the approach volumes collected during a turning movement count on October 21st, 2021 and the federal warrants at this intersection are not satisfied, a multi-way stop is not recommended at the intersection of Old Frederick Road and E. Waterville Road.
Vehicles not stopping at stop signs is a violation of Maryland vehicle law. Please contact Howard County Police Department non-emergency number at 410-313-2929 for enforcement.

Can you tell me if the police department was consulted to see how many incidents have been reported from this intersection?
Thank you,
