Beschreibung
This crosswalk is being ignored by 99% of the car drivers as they don't see the pedestrians. The cars come from around the corner from one direction or from under the hill from the other. Some cars try to rapidly stop right before the crosswalk, and that can be quite hazardous too, in spite of their good intention. Since it's a major road that is quite busy it often takes a long time to wait for all cars to pass before one can cross. This crosswalk is often used by many people trying to catch a bus on the other side of the road or by people taking a walk in the Dicken neighborhood. The schools are back in session now too which means kids have to cross this major road twice daily in order to make their trips to school and back home.
This is quite dangerous and I recommend that rapid flashing beacon system, more warning signs for the cars approaching the crosswalk as well as rumble strips are added to this crosswalk to ensure safety of the pedestrians.

With school starting again, I was reminded how dangerous this spot is. It can be hard for oncoming traffic to see people for either direction. They often drive by us while we're waiting with a look of "oops" in their eyes.
Having a button with flashing lights will make this far safer. And since this is the only crosswalk between Pauline and Scio Church on Maple, the effort and cost are certainly justified.
