This is a busy intersection where kids from the neighborhood
walk across to Silver Spring Intermediate Park. Yet there are no crosswalks, and a free left/right off Fenton into Chicago Ave from Montgomery College results in many drivers racing through the street. There need to be clearly marked speed bump, or at the very least, marked crosswalks at Violet and Chicago to the Park entrance, and at Boston Ave and Chicago to the Park entrance.

Also majority of drivers on Philadelphia DO NOT STOP at the clearly marked cross walk to Chicago Ave/Silver Spring Park. This included city bus drivers (eg. F4 and 17).

Agreed- almost got run-over while pushing our baby in stroller at this intersection couple of days ago. Very dangerous now that it gets dark early, and people are in a hurry to get home.

Streetlights would be nice too, so drivers can clearly see people crossing the intersection.

No change. The crosswalk intersection as dangerous as ever. Several buses break the red light blatantly barreling through Takoma Ave and Philadelphia intersection as well.

Another issue- cars turning left off Philadelphia into Violet have right of way, last night a rude young man (presumably college student) almost ran his car into me, rolling past the stop sign on Violet Place going left on Philadelphia. I rolled down my window and reminded him I had right of way, only to be cursed at.
This intersection needs monitoring during evening rush hour. When is MoCo going to do something??

Amend my comment above- I meant going left off Philadelphia onto Chicago Ave. Cars are always barreling down Chicago Ave to turn left on Philadelphia, creating unnecessary conflict at the intersection. This is a dangerous intersection to cross.

No progress on this issue. Situation as bad as ever. Some drivers don't even seem to know who has right of way when turning onto Philadelphia, adding to the stress when one is crossing at the poorly illuminated crosswalk late in the evening. Almost a year since posting this issue- ayresponse would be appreciated!

Kudos for TP for putting in clearly marked crosswalks at the intersection of Boston and SS Intermediate Park, as well as the safety speed bumps on Boston Ave going past the park towards Takoma Ave. However, the issue of the crosswalk on Philadelphia at the MoCo College bus stop has not yet been addressed by either the county or the city.

There was an awful accident here on New Year's day, around 5pm, when a pick up truck coming down Philadelphia slammed into a car pulling out of Boston Ave into this intersection. When will MoCo put in a light here? Are they waiting for a pedestrian accident as people run across the street to the F4 bus stop, or for kids crossing to go to MoCo Community College before they will take note?
