Description

Shattuck Avenue between 51st Street and 49th Street desperately needs stop signs for pedestrian safety. 51st Street between the cheese shop and the parking lot of the shopping center with Peet's Coffee has only one crosswalk on the north side, but really needs to have one on the south side as well.

Stop signs should be placed at 51st Street and at 49th Streets as well as drivers consistently fail to stop for pedestrians, even despite a yellow pedestrian crossing sign at 49th Street. (Recently my partner was hit by a car while crossing the crosswalk at 49th Street in broad daylight).

Drivers also consistently drive up to 45 mph on this stop-free stretch of Shattuck Avenue. There is a house on this block with several children who play outside and are at risk with drivers speeding to and from the freeway offramp at 52nd Street.

Shattuck Avenue between 49th and 51st Streets has a lot of businesses and foot traffic and really needs traffic calming measures put into place.
