Description
madaket bike path sandy at dangerous points again.
I spent a few hours yesterday with a push broom, taking care of the worst. All it would take to reduce danger would be ONE guy with a pushbroom, ONE hour each week, to maintain it. no street sweeper needed.
the resurfacing is nice, but sand is what poses public safety hazard.

Q. Is this a pothole or cobblestone?

yes, plus hurricane arthur wasn't very kind. The madaket resurfacing has helped a lot, so thanks. The most dangerous low spots could probably be leveled more to shunt sand to the sides, IMO, and certain spots where the path crosses driveways could be smoothed at the joins.
Anyway, the point I hoped to make was that a sweeper machine is far beyond what is actually needed... an hour or 90 mins per path by someone with a push-broom weekly would take care of most of the danger spots... I tested this by sweeping it myself before posting the observation. It would cost about $400-600 per path per season, lots less than the price of a sweeper plus labor to drive/haul it...
