This was "acknowledged" over a month ago... what is the status?

Hi ! My name is Emily and I'm soooooo happy that someone came forth and posted this pic ! I grew up next to this house and since 1990 I've looked over at this mess and have watched it grow into a complete junkyard ! My mother has tried numerous times to bring this to the attention of town officials but nothing has been done. The problem only gets worse. This is a residential area and he needs to take his business elsewhere !

Complaint rec'd by Board of Health. Will speak with owner and advise on proper organization practices. It is not illegal to store materials on private property, however, unkemptness of a storage area can pose as a sufficient harborage site for rodents.

understand its legal to store materials on private property but this mataerials are his business supplies. he runs his tile business from this site. this is not a commercial site

Has there been any soil samples taken to verify and harmful chemicals in the soil?

Again, it is 100% legal to store materials on private property regardless of what they may or may not be used for. There are no materials that are out of the ordinary or hazardous such that they would require special conditions for storage. We understand that the area in question is unsightly and will request that the owner organize the area after the cold season has ended. We will also inquire as to the possibility of erecting a fence along your property line, at least around the area in question. If you have an issue regarding a business being operated in a residential zone, please contact Stoneham Inspectional Services. Thank you for your inquiry.

Has BOH made any follow up trips to confirm if rodents are living in the piles of materials? Can the owner install a screening fence? Did you contact the building inspector to report a possible business in a residential zone? It would be nice to get a final answer. I feel bad for the neighbors who have dealt with that mess for so long.

hooray....for this observation....I understand it's legal to store materials on private property. A commercial tile business has been run out of this yellow garage for over 20 years, materials are also in the basement of the house. Many trucks are parked there over nite, Tthe workers arrive in the am, load up what is needed for the day and return in the pm, unload, park trucks and leave in own cars. All the junk that is stored is a dumping ground from jobs so that is illegal. I have watched this business and junk expand. I am one of the neighbors, I'm a tax payer and live in a residential neighborhood, not commercial. I complained and wrote many letters years ago with out a response. Everyone in this neighborhood knows this too. I was told to to to a state rep to have this persued. I just might

Owner information for 164 North Street has been sent to Inspectional Services department regarding a possible zoning infraction. Material storage on private property is and will remain a legal practice. BOH will contact owners about the organization of said material. Without a readily renewable food source, rodents and wildlife rarely will take up residence, unless the materials in question are organic materials like leaves, wood piles, compost, etc. Tiles and work debris do not classify as organic materials.

As previously stated, Inspectional Services has been made aware of the possible zoning infraction and will follow up with the owners of 164 North Street. A letter from the BOH will be drafted and sent to said owners as well.

The State is an option.. and so is the Insurance Commissioner...They have 'areas in there to keep 'risks' down'.. Check it out.. There may be other alternatives also. We'll see...

Did the Board of Health ever inspect for evidence of rodents or did they just make a statement about rodents without a site visit? Also why do neighbors have to wait until Spring for a cleanup? If the owner can deposit debris in the Winter, the owner can clean up in the Winter. Will zoning allow an outbuilding to be built. That seems like an easy answer.

Is this owner 'Politically Connected'?.........The Insurance Commissioner can and should investigate his 'Insurance' coverage to find out if it is a 'Homeowners' or 'Business Policy Coverage.. His storage and the 'neatness' of it could pose an Insurance Risk to his Insurance Company exposure to 'Liability' and Cancel his insurance.

Town Record: 'Nancy Vigorito' Trust : Is this home connected to 'Tony's Tile' ? Perhaps worth studying. Related to the Saia Family or not ?..Perhaps all this storage 'may be' related to 'Business Storage' in that respect. Perhaps.
