That's a really good point. If kids are walking further to school now, at least give them safer places to cross.

Agree that a crossing for that stretch of Packard would be good. But that particular spot is already tricky for traffic, with left turners aiming for Independence (from the north) or Marlborough (from the south) having to negotiate with each other. Those two left turns, and how the competing intended-turners have to contend with each other, need to be taken into account, and it's dicey enough sometimes as is, without adding another factor right there (or immediately to the north or south of that spot).

Lisa, I may have marked the map wrong, but I was trying to flag this at the Crestland intersection, which has fewer conflict points than over by Independence. I agree that spot would be trickier. This one would be simpler, and has the bonus of being the actual street that the school is on.

An island wouldn't work because of left hand turns on both Crestland and Rosewood. But lights would be helpful, though many don't stop at them either.
