Description
Curb for the entrance / exit for the boat ramp too steep and oddly angled to safely maneuver a turn into/out of driveway. Not enough signage declaring blind driveway and school zone. Fences also block view of traffic. Drivers on Central coming in hot and blind to boats, walking school kids, bikers, drivers, etc. All in all, can result in blocked on-coming traffic lanes and near-miss accidents.

Thank you for reporting your concerns about street safety in Alameda. In April, 2021, the City Council approved final concepts for major safety improvements to Central Ave from Sherman to Main, including traffic calming measures, safer pedestrian crossings, and a two-way, protected bikeway on this stretch of Central. Construction is expected to begin in late 2022. More information is here: www.alamedaca.gov/central
Your report will help inform the City of Alameda’s work to achieve our Vision Zero goal of eliminating traffic fatalities and severe injuries. We will use street safety reports, including yours, in combination with crash data and equity indicators to prioritize and design street safety investments. This evaluation will generally happen on an annual basis, with some exceptions for clear and pressing trends. Issues that the City deems to be immediate safety concerns will be elevated for quick action.
