Flood, fire, water, and emergency alerts in and around North Cambridge.

Notified About

  • Harvey St Cambridge MA 02140, United States - North Cambridge
My kid just came home from high school and was almost hit while crossing Mass Ave at Harvey/Cameron. Two cars refused to stop. My kid was in the crosswalk and had the light. One sped by her, honking, and one dodged around her instead of stopping, causing her to have to jump out of the way. I also called the police non-emergency line and left a message with Traffic asking for enforcement.

Cambridge 02140 United States - North Cambridge
Drive by shooting last night around 6:15-6:30 pm. There was a drive by shooting near the kids park and tennis, basketball courts, a white car fired on a black car and then drove off at a great deal of speed.
So I was wondering what is being done to keep little kids playing in that park by the grammar school, the people gardening in the community garden, the folks playing tennis and basketball, and just people out for a walk SAFE ????????
One young person was shot and killed there not that long ago.
What are the Cambridge Police doing about this activity. Is it drug related or gang related???
Will it take another person death to get some action???
  • 320 Rindge Avenue Cambridge, MA - North Cambridge
Pedestrian reports missing crosswalk sign here. Today Water Dept worked at this location. Residents put a temporary "sandwich board" indicating crosswalk for students to identify crosswalk, but that disappeared today. Resident is not sure why the temporary sandwich board sign had to be removed. Please reinstall the crosswalk sign or provide some temporary indicator for students to safely cross Rindge Ave. This is a high traffic area and should not be unmarked.
  • Sidewalk Defect Acknowledged
2-98 Westley Ave Cambridge, MA, 02140, USA - North Cambridge

The sidewalks on Westley Ave are in awful shape. The street and sidewalks recently underwent a water main replacement, which included several replacements of lines to homes by water department staff or contractors. There are now at least 5 areas of patched sidewalk using either asphalt or crushed stone.

Please repair the sidewalks on Westley Ave. to a consistent level of safety and appearance.

That was a sidewalk issue I reported 2 years ago after it wasn't properly repaired for about 3 years after a catch basin replacement project. There are now many issues with the sidewalk on Westley Ave., and as far as I know they're all the result of city work and should be fixed by the city.

We would very much appreciate sidewalk repairs. Please note that the street is also being re-paved; I've heard they plan to grind it on Thu 6/15 and pave on the week of 6/19.

  • Somerville Community Path Somerville, MA 02144, USA - Somerville
this path is always flooded when it rains people have to walk in the mud. It has to be hard for people with strollers. It's nasty. Been living in this area for 11 years and no one is fixing the problems.
  • 235 Alewife Brook Parkway Cambridge, Massachusetts - Cambridge
Whenever there's a hard rain or melting snow, there's a significant water puddle from Wheeler St to closer to TD Bank. The water doesn't drain well in this area. There is more puddling on the sidewalk behind Mattress Firm and Chipotle, too. Makes the walk to and from Alewife difficult.
  • 1924 Massachusetts Avenue Cambridge, Massachusetts - North Cambridge

Technically there should be a painted bike lane here, but it hasn't been painted ever since the roadway was resurfaced (a month ago?). I called this in to CPD's non-emergency line, but posting here to make sure it's recorded.

While this issue is important for CPD to know about, it probably should be re-routed to whoever is supposed to be repainting the lines, and then after that to whoever can determine if bollards can be placed here (or the whole bike lane moved to a sidewalk level cycletrack...but that seems unlikely with the roadway just having been resurfaced...).

  • 35 Cambridgepark Dr - North Cambridge
I called this vehicle in to the non emergency police line over an hour ago. I don’t think this building management or Cambridge is taking the continued illegal parking here seriously. 2 hours later, there are now 3 vehicles parked illegally. They must think the cones mean special contractor parking.
  • Alewife Station Access Rd Cambridge, MA, 02140, USA - North Cambridge
There is a dangerous encampment in this location with at least half a dozen people who have constructed a large facility for stolen items and drugs. Looks like an extremely hazardous situation possibly with hazmat running into the nearby water system and Alewife reservation.
  • 2000 Massachusetts Avenue Cambridge, MA, 02140, USA - North Cambridge

There has been two other posts about the scaffolding at this address. The city has acknowledged it and has yet to provide an update as to when the work and scaffolding will be coming down.

For a few weeks there was a portable bathroom on site and some work happening, and then it was removed and I haven't seen anyone since working on the building. The residents of this area deserve and answer about this. The scaffolding has been up for way too long, even if they continue to get permits. The city should provide an update to us and not leave this issue as opened since September when the complaint was filed. It blocks the sidewalk, has garbage all accumulated around the wood, drips water, and is an impact to the businesses that are located in this building.

  • Graffiti Archived
2021-2039 Massachusetts Ave Cambridge, MA, 02140, USA - North Cambridge
Antisemitic Graffiti on base of light pole. This is the 3rd incidence of antisemitic Graffiti along this stretch of Mass Ave in a week. These businesses must have security camr.era, as does the Fire Station across the street. Please review the tapes to identify/ prosecute the offenders. We are spending taxpayer fmdollars to clean and paint over their damage, let alone social costs.

Fitchburg Cutoff Bikepath Cambridge 02140, United States - North Cambridge
In the woods between the Fitchburg cutoff path/DCR boardwalk is an encampment, well, several different “generations” of encampments really, where people are living under conditions that make me very sad and pity them, but also are doing violations like using drugs and accumulating large amounts of trash/junk tarps mattresses sheets chairs grilling/fire equipment food wrappers syringes bike parts etc. building fires, public defecating… i keep calling dcr but no one seems to want to clean up all the trash… whatever agency is responsible for law enforcement in that particular area, whatever kind of method of response they have for dealing with the encampment issue, why doesn’t it involve removing all of the stuff that is there?
