Description
Pedestrians don't know where to cross the street on this stretch of Farmington between Whitney and Sisson, but it's an extremely active pedestrian area. The traffic lights are not synchronized, so it's not as though there is ever a good time to cross. Crosswalks are needed at either Kenyon, Evergreen, Girard or all three to help direct pedestrians to a common place to cross, and also help slow the auto traffic. The way it is now, pedestrians cross willy-nilly all up and down the stretch of road, often having to run.

Thank you for reporting this, Heather!
I'm not sure from your description that this is something that the city could easily fix overnight.
Therefore, to raise the profile of this issue, you may want to consider forwarding it to your neighbors using the "Send to Friend" button above. Posting flyers directing people to this page could also potentially help.
Are there any neighborhood associations / blockwatches or major employers in this area that would have an interest in seeing this issue resolved? If so, please post any ideas here and someone will share that info with them.
The more people concerned, the more likely that the issue is to be fixed.

I can't believe that this was first reported as long ago as 2009 and still nothing has been done. Talk about not being able to get something done overnight!
I live on Farmington Ave near Sisson and every single day I have trouble crossing the street, I feel disconnected from the shops in my own neighborhood, and I see people almost getting run over because they have to jaywalk out into traffic. Between Sisson and Woodland there are no crosswalks--the University of Hartford has a shuttle stop in this no-mans land and their students have to dash across the street to Clemens place in traffic.
It should embarrass the hell out of Hartford city officials and DPW to have such a dense street in this condition still.
