This sort of seems like a failure of the system. I do not know what the address is. However, this is not a complicated problem. And if we let this drop, then the graffiti will stay for ages. Clearly the person who owns the place doesn't know they can report graffiti. Why not just mail forms to the few houses that must be this address? That would seem to be 1201, 1203, 1205, and 1207 W. Cary. The worst that happens is they don't respond but know that the city cares and the city is out a a dollar in paper and postage. Best case is the right house gets it and they send back the form -- and 3 envelopes get tossed or saved until there's a need later. At a certain point, I think the city needs to be more proactive in addressing graffiti and if it takes sending someone out to knock on a door or pin up a form to the garage, that's more of what we need. Most people don't know anything about SCF or how to report graffiti to the city and, frankly, I don't think it's my job to spend more time tracking down addresses.

Randolph Ranger - I totally agree that it is not your job to track down addresses. However, as with many City services, there is a gap between citizens' expectations and reality. If you haven't already, you might play around with http://www.richmondgov.com/GIS/applications.aspx to find the address. Using this site and your photo, I believe the offending property is: 1233 W CARY ST Parcel ID: W0000440025, owned by MICHAEL J. HALAK and KIRA LYNN SCHMID.

Thanks, that's helpful. I'm not sure which of the tools you're referring to on that page. I tried http://map.richmondgov.com/LandUseProject/ and wish that it gave me addresses for all visible properties, not just a single address I typed in. To this end, I'd recommend that if someone from the city suggest that I find an address when I originally state it's not visible, then please suggest that tool right off instead of telling me to go back and look; that saves everyone time and frustration. I do want to help, but I think the counter point is that there's a gap between what can be expected of a concerned citizen and what's realistic. Still, even with those GIS tools, I'm not sure what the address is for that property. I'd again say that you should just send a release to 1225, 1227, 1229, 1231 and 1233 W Cary. Or send an inspector over because that whole area seems to be neglected.
